What this covers

Fire protection usually shows up late, and by then the options have narrowed.

By the time a coating gets selected, the structure is drawn, the ceiling heights are set, and someone else is choosing on price. This session is about the decisions made earlier - the ones that are still yours.

OBJECTIVE 01Distinguish what ASTM E84 and ASTM E119 each measure, and identify which one a given code requirement actually calls for.
OBJECTIVE 02Compare intumescent and cementitious fire protection against the constraints of a specific project: exposed structure, ceiling height, schedule, and finish.
OBJECTIVE 03Locate coating thickness requirements in an ICC-ES evaluation report using section factor, and identify the special inspection requirements that apply in the field.
OBJECTIVE 04Determine when an exposed wood or fabric finish requires an ASTM E84 Class A rating, and specify a clear coating that achieves it without altering the appearance of the material.
